The client is a well-known international sports brand that uses various plastic materials to produce protective clothing, boots, impact pads, and helmets.
Request
For the molding of certain particularly complex colored products, they had always turned to TPV Compound.
Driven by the Covid-19 pandemic, the client decided to explore new antimicrobial materials, but faced a unique challenge: the plastic material suppliers were all multinational chemical companies that were unable to produce small quantities of customized compounds with antimicrobial additives.
This was especially true because an initial analysis revealed that incorporating the chosen antimicrobial was not always chemically feasible.
Proposed Solution
The client turned to TPV Compound because, when it came to supplying colored PVC compounds, they had demonstrated a strong propensity for customizing solutions. When the client proposed creating customized, non-PVC-based products, the TPV Team took a few days to develop a response. Producing antimicrobial masterbatches on a non-PVC basis isn’t the company’s job, as it only processes PVC.
The client, however, is a well-known international brand, and in certain situations, this comes before the product.
The TPV Team realized that by using the existing technology for producing masterbatches, they could process completely different polymer bases and incorporate the antimicrobial.
Benefits and Future Developments
Thanks to the technological solution adopted, the client was able to offer the market a new line of antimicrobial sports products and strengthened its partnership with TPV Compound.
The customer is always central, and in TPV Compound, they find empathy, responsiveness, reliability, and reassurance.
